The 10-year OneWater national water research and innovation programme launched in 2022 is taking part in the "Inclusive Science for Water Security" event on the sidelines of the 2023 UN Water Conference on 24 March in New York.

OneWater - Water as a Common Good is a national research and innovation programme that aims to achieve recognition of water as a common good. Run jointly by BRGM, CNRS and INRAE and launched in 2022 for a 10-year period, this programme is financed by the fourth "investments for the future" programme (PIA4) under the France 2030 plan.

United Nations 2023 Water Conference - 22 to 24 March 2023

Water is essential for the achievement of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and for the health and prosperity of people and the planet. However, progress on the water-related goals and targets is far from satisfactory, which undermines the overall sustainable development agenda. The United Nations Water Conference in March 2023 must result in a water action programme.

OneWater's participation in the "Inclusive Science for Water Security" event - 24 March 2023

As a part of the United Nations 2023 Water Conference in New York, OneWater will be co-organising a side event entitled "Inclusive Science for Water Security" sponsored by Chile and co-sponsored by France, Brazil, the Horizon Europe partnership, Water4All, UNESCO's International Hydrological Programme and IHE Delft. The event will take place at the UN headquarters in New York on 24 March from 3:30pm to 4:15pm (local time). This side event is one of the 200 selected from a total of 1,300 projects submitted.

One of the main challenges for governments is to ensure that all scientific findings on water issues strengthen knowledge systems, are integrated, and enable stakeholders in the water sector to apply innovative solutions that respond to real problems in communities, localities and regions.

The aim of this event is to highlight the role of research and innovation in providing solutions and contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals and to commit to developing a roadmap towards a common action plan for research and innovation related to water challenges.
