It also includes the French nuclear industry, with all the players involved in the production of nuclear energy: activities relating to the various phases of the industrial cycle of an electricity production plant, and activities relating to the fuel cycle.

Situated on BRGM's site in Orléans since 2008, BRGM's geothermal platform is the only laboratory of its kind in France. It is used to test shallow geothermal exchangers – of the type used to provide heating or cooling in private houses or small buildings – in real-life conditions.
