The theme chosen for this 6th World Water Forum in Marseille will be "Time for Solutions". It reflects the common determination of the various international water-stakeholders to provide practical solutions to ensure everyone has access to an adequate supply of high-quality water. Access to water for all is indeed one of the major concerns of the 21st century.

BRGM is logically at the forefront of water management, due to its sound knowledge of geological formations and in-depth expertise in setting up appropriate methodologies for the sustainable management of groundwater.

Multiple missions for BRGM, the groundwater expert

Since its creation, BRGM has been conducting a public service mission on behalf of the French government. This involves it monitoring the quantitative aspect of groundwater and contributing its technical and scientific expertise to the organisations responsible for water management (among which water agencies, utilities and local authorities) by proposing innovative solutions for assessing and monitoring the quality of this resource. BRGM's skills in the field of Earth sciences, based on dynamic research and a high level of partnership, are now internationally recognised.

Aware of the issues revolving around this key resource, BRGM proposes solutions for water that are determinedly reasonable and sustainable. These respond to the needs of populations and take into account the socio-economic constraints relating to the use and correct management of water resources.
