BRGM is taking part in the Journées Aléas Gravitaires (Gravity Hazard Days) to be held from 10 to 11 May 2022 in Montpellier. These Days are a recurring scientific event attended by researchers and socio-economic players, concerning gravity hazards and risks in continental and coastal areas.

This new edition will be an opportunity to bring the entire French-speaking community working on this issue together once again, in person.

The Days will be organised around the following 4 topics:

  • Multi-method "earth movements" observatories.
  • Modelling slope movement fracture and propagation mechanisms.
  • Quantitative estimation of gravity hazards and risks
  • Strategies, warning systems and means of protection against gravity hazards.

There will also be a focus on instability in volcanic areas.

With its expertise in risk management and land use planning, BRGM is closely involved in the Gravity Hazard Days

For more sustainable spatial planning, BRGM is developing integrated approaches to the management of natural risks that affect the ground, the subsurface and the coastline and risks resulting from human activity.

As a member of the scientific committee of the Gravity Hazard Days, BRGM will also give various presentations during these two days.
