BRGM will be taking part in the 11th French National Convention on Geotechnics and Engineering Geology (Journées nationales de géotechnique et de géologie de l'ingénieur – JNGG 2022) to be held in Lyon from 28 to 30 June 2022, organised by the French Committee for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnics (CFMS), the Committee for Rock Mechanics (CFMR) and the Committee for Engineering Geology and the Environment (CFGI).

The 2022 convention is entitled "Learning from the past and building the future" (Apprendre du passé et construire l'avenir). It will address a number of topics, including: the design, construction and durability of geotechnical structures, carrying out reconnaissance and verifications of sites and structures, physical and numerical modelling of sites and structures, characterisation and modelling of materials and geomaterials, risk management, sustainable construction, life-cycle analysis (LCA) of geostructures, and the teaching and transmission of expertise in geotechnics and engineering geology. The convention aims to show how it is possible to capitalise on collective experience to better appreciate and prepare for the new challenges of the future.

Over the course of three days, some 150 oral presentations will be organised as well as three plenary conferences, involving experts invited by the three committees.

The JNGG 2022 will also host a technical exhibition that will enable the sector's various players (companies, design offices, hardware and software suppliers, etc.) to promote their activities and products.
