The aim of the letter of intent signed by the  geological surveys of the two countries on 27 November 2023 at the Brazilian Embassy in Paris is to develop international cooperation between France and Brazil in the geosciences.

Water, risks and mineral resources for the energy transition: towards cooperation between France and Brazil

This signature is the first step towards the development of joint research projects in the geosciences, with potential applications in a number of areas:

  • the management of water resources,
  • spatial planning that takes account of geological risks,
  • the supply of strategic mineral resources for the energy transition.
Inácio Melo, CEO of the Brazilian Geological Survey (SGB), and Jean-Claude Guillaneau, in charge of International Institutional Affairs at BRGM, signed a letter of intent on 27 November to develop cooperation between the two organisations.
