In 2006, the French government gave BRGM responsibility for managing the technical aspects of monitoring former mines, including carrying out safety work and preventing mine-related risks. Today, BRGM continues to fulfil its "post-mining" mission with the same determination and desire to innovate.
With this in mind, all its divisions work together with the Mine Safety and Risk Prevention Department (DPSM) to advance their research, and this has resulted in some major successes.
