Following the recommendations of the Varin report, BRGM, CEA, IFPEN, Ademe, IFRI and CNAM, with the support of the CSF Mines et Métallurgie, have created the French Observatory of Mineral Resources for Industrial Sectors (OFREMI). The launch will take place on 29 November 2022, under the patronage of the Minister for Energy Transition.

How can we guarantee the availability of strategic resources and access to them for our major industrial sectors for the coming decades?

Following the recommendations of the Varin report, BRGM, CEA, IFPEN, Ademe, IFRI and CNAM, with the support of the CSF Mines et Métallurgie, created OFREMI (Observatoire Français des Ressources Minérales pour les Filières Industrielles), a responsive, forward-looking and permanent economic intelligence unit, to provide input for public authorities and industry.

Launch of OFREMI - 29 November 2022

The OFREMI (French observatory of mineral resources for industrial sectors) was launched on 29 November 2022 in the presence of the Ministers for Energy Transition, Ms Pannier-Runacher, and Industry, Mr Lescure. Initiated by the government following the Varin report on securing supplies of critical metals, and supported by BRGM, this observatory brings together the skills of the main French players in strategic metals.
