The educational kit on the geology of Reunion island includes a set of documents intended for both Life and Earth Science teachers and secondary school pupils.

While landscapes generally take millions of years to form, on Reunion island the morphology is regularly disrupted by extensive volcanic activity and erosion. Most of the land on Reunion island is no more than a few tens to a few hundred thousand years old. Not so long ago, torrents of lava flowed where almost a million people now live.
Reunion Island was settled too recently for humans to have witnessed most of these upheavals. The Earth, however, has kept their traces in the form of rocks, fractures and relief.
A tool for exploring the island's geological history
The educational kit, and the accompanying 1:100,000 scale map, have been designed to help people discover and understand these clues.
