The return of young children’s favourite geologist duo
This second season again follows the adventures of the BRGM researcher duo who have won over young and old alike: Pierrette Caillou, an enthusiastic geologist, and Abel, her faithful colleague, always keen to set off on an adventure.
And their famous invention, the "cailloutolettre", continues to transmit calls for help from metals in distress. After gold, lithium, silicon, neodymium, copper and indium in the first season, it is now aluminium, chlorine, phosphorus, sapphire, chromium, platinum, and finally gallium, that are calling for their help. In these 6 new episodes, the podcast looks at the origin of metals, their essential role in our daily lives and the issues involved in managing them responsibly.
The BRGM teams once again lent a hand to Professor Caillou by answering her calls. Among them, Agnès Noël, Antoine Lebrault, Maxime Picault, Caroline Ricordel and Philippe Freyssinet, BRGM's Science Director, took part to offer young audiences enjoyable, easy-to-understand episodes.
6 new episodes to discover
Featuring the voices of Marine Baousson and Guillaume Vacher, and produced by Studio Radio France with BRGM, the podcast continues to attract young people to the Earth sciences, and could even inspire them to become geologists!
The 6 episodes of season 2 are available on the Radio France app and franceinter.fr, as well as on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Deezer.
The first season is still available to anyone who wants to replay the beginning of their adventures or discover podcasts for the first time.
Episode 1 - Aluminium
Guided by Aluminium, Abel travels to Australia in search of bauxite. His assignment is the perfect opportunity to learn more about this metal, which is essential to our everyday lives.
Episode 2 - Chlorine
When Abel discovers Professor Caillou's office covered in dust and germs, they call in Chlorine, a chemical element used to make bleach.
Episode 3 - Phosphorus
The cailloutolettre rings: Phosphorus needs the help of Abel and Professor Caillou because, even though it helps plants, animals and humans to grow, it has the impression that nobody loves it.
Episode 4 - Sapphire
Sapphire promises to help Abel find a piece of jewellery for his beloved, if he can finally get it out of the rock library – and, thanks to Agathe Caillou, Pierrette's sister, learn some of the geological secrets of precious stones.
Episode 5 - Chrome and Platinum
To answer Chrome's bizarre question about "baby metals", Abel and Professor Caillou dive into the depths of the Earth.
Episode 6 - Gallium
Gallium, long ignored in bauxite, takes advantage of this last episode to make its voice heard and reveal its essential role in cutting-edge technologies.
