Terra Innova: reclaiming soil from building and public works sites for agriculture

Terra Innova was founded in Nantes in 2018 with the aim of reusing certain types of excavated soil from construction sites to fertilise agricultural fields. Pursuing this plan, it has carried out over 150 projects across France in cooperation with the construction and public works sector, local and regional authorities and the agricultural world.

Since the end of 2023, the company has been developing a new activity: reclaiming abandoned and overgrown land by using regenerated soil to create landscapes and islands of biodiversity. In these areas, the creation of natural barriers helps to combat soil erosion and improve the seepage of rainwater into groundwater layers.

BRGM Invest, committed to the reuse of excavated soil from the construction and public works sector

Already active around Nantes, Toulouse, Lyon and in the Ile-de-France region, where it is redeveloping several sites, Terra Innova wants to roll out its model across the whole of France and reinforce its teams, which currently number 15 people. To this end, it has launched a fund-raising campaign in which BRGM Invest has decided to participate by taking a 21% share in this innovative company.

The French geological survey was already providing Terra Innova with its expertise and, through this investment, is demonstrating its strong commitment to the reuse of excavated soil.
