BRGM's commitment was fully demonstrated in 2023, both in France and internationally, on all fronts:

  • risks, exacerbated by climate change,
  • water: development of anticipation tools, promoting ways of adapting to climate change such as nature-based solutions, groundwater bulletins and drought crisis management, etc.
  • Subsurface potential for the energy transition: characterisation of geothermal potential as part of the national plan, launch of the national inventory of CO2 storage potential in France,
  • mineral resources, to support the ecological and digital transitions and our country's sovereignty,
  • digital technologies, a key requisite for our future, by helping to develop the France Green-Nation roadmap.

Assets for the future

BRGM's strengths were highlighted in 2023, and we shall continue to consolidate them in 2024, namely:

  • an ambitious 2023-2027 contract of objectives, resources and performance with the Government,
  • co-leadership of three priority research programmes and facilities (PEPRs) on water, risks and subsurface use, and involvement in a fourth (on recycling),
  • high-level, independent and impartial research and expertise.

The commitment of our employees has resulted in strong business growth and another profitable financial year.
