At a time when we are all concerned about our planet, the French geological society would like to mobilise all geoscience stakeholders in France once a year to help as many people as possible discover the beauty and history of our landscapes and the riches of our Earth.
In Orléans, the Orléans Museum for biodiversity and the environment (MOBE) is organising a number of events :

Workshop for 7 to 10-year-olds - In the shoes of a geologist – Wednesday 7 May at 2pm
Newsflash! The museum has just acquired a large collection of rocks that need to be identified. Take up the challenge and become a geologist for a day, helping the MOBE team to unlock the secrets of rocks and minerals!
Wednesday 7 May at 2pm (prior booking required) - Included in the museum admission ticket
Operation "Show me your stone" (for all ages) - Wednesday 7 May from 3pm to 6pm
The idea is simple: MOBE's geologist and palaeontologist will be on hand to help the public identify the "stones" that everyone may have picked up on their walks and travels, "stones" that sit on our mantelpieces, our bookshelves, sometimes inherited from our grandparents!

Workshop for 4 to 6-year-olds - Operation fossils! - Wednesday 7 May at 4pm
Become budding palaeontologists as you explore the fascinating world of fossils! A range of activities and hands-on exercises will take you back in time to discover animals that have disappeared. 1, 2, 3 – start digging!

Walks - Stones and their secrets - Friday 9 May at 2pm and 4pm
Discover Orléans's architectural heritage from a different perspective and uncover the secrets of its stones! You'll be on the lookout for the fossils that adorn the city's buildings and cobblestones!

Conference - An inventory of mineral resources: identifying tomorrow's mineral resources today - Friday 9 May at 7pm
To better assess France's strategic mineral resource potential, BRGM is rolling out a major programme over part of mainland France and French Guiana. The aim of this initiative is to identify the most promising areas for around sixty key elements that are essential to industry and to our energy transition.
