Chaired by Christophe Poinssot (Deputy Director General of BRGM), this conference looks at the paradox of natural resource extraction in a world seeking sustainability.
Minerals and the ecological transition
The dilemma today is glaring: on the one hand, we need to reduce our consumption of fossil fuels, while on the other, solar panels, wind turbines, batteries and smartphones use vast quantities of minerals that are non-renewable and difficult to extract in an environmentally friendly way.
Chaired by Christophe Poinssot (Deputy Director General of BRGM), this conference looks at the paradox of natural resource extraction in a world seeking sustainability:
- Where do these minerals come from?
- What alternatives or more frugal practices are there?
- Can mining be made more responsible?
