Climate change: coastal risks and adaptation solutions for the coastlines
Rising sea levels are now widely recognised as a major threat to coastlines. Gonéri Le Cozannet will discuss the reasons for this, and the consequences in terms of coastal erosion and the greater risk of coastal flooding in mainland France and French overseas territories. He will talk about possible adaptation solutions and present his work in modelling rising sea levels.
Gonéri Le Cozannet, coastal risk specialist at BRGM
Gonéri Le Cozannet is an engineer by training with a PhD in geography. He has been working at BRGM since 2006, in the "Coastal risks and climate change" unit of the Risks and Prevention Division. His research focuses on the effects of sea-level rise on coastal erosion and flooding. He is currently coordinating the CoCliCo research project to develop climate services for adapting to rising sea levels. He is the author or co-author of some 30 public reports and around sixty publications in peer-reviewed journals. He also contributed to the second part of the sixth assessment report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) on impacts, adaptation and vulnerability to climate change in Europe and the Mediterranean, published in February 2022.
